With the participation of His Excellency MP Ahmed Sabah Al-Saloum in his capacity as Chairman of the Arab Union for Trade Facilitation and Risk Management, the Council of Arab Economic Unity, which is affiliated with the League of Arab States, held its 116th regular meeting at the ministerial level at the Marriott Hotel in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in the presence of the permanent delegates of the member states of the Council and the heads of the specialized Arab federations.
It is worth noting that His Excellency MP Al-Saloum was the sole representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain at the meeting.. The State of Palestine assumed the presidency of the 116th regular ministerial session of the Council of Economic Unity at the ministerial level and permanent representatives.. The focus of the meeting was on the Palestinian issue, its developments and its economic impacts.
Regarding this participation, His Excellency MP Al-Saloum said that the Economic Unity Council, as a joint Arab action institution, carries within it a great goal, which is Arab unity, and it bears a heavy burden to deal with the challenges arising from such Israeli aggression, and the crises that the Arab world is going through at the political, economic and social levels. He pointed out that the sisterly State of Palestine has been subjected to the most heinous occupation the world has ever known for more than 75 years, and today it is difficult for us to describe what the Gaza Strip is witnessing in terms of mass massacres that are more like genocide with all types of internationally prohibited weapons, and it is a humanitarian disaster that the brotherly Palestinian people are being subjected to and must be stopped immediately, stressing Bahrain's official position in this regard and what was stated in the lofty speech of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, may God protect him and preserve him, whether at the opening of the legislative session of the National Council in its two chambers or in His Majesty's lofty speech on the occasion of the Kingdom's National Day and the glorious Accession Day. Al-Saloum continued, "The ministerial meeting comes amidst exceptional and difficult circumstances that the Arab region is going through, which require more effort to achieve Arab economic integration in a way that enhances the standard of living of citizens, facilitates inter-trade movement between all Arab countries, and opens new horizons towards achieving Arab economic growth that serves the development projects witnessed by a number of Arab countries."
For his part, Ambassador Mohammadi Ahmed Al-Ni, Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Economic Unity, indicated that the General Secretariat of the Council is making great efforts to develop an investment roadmap for the member states of the Council, as well as the joint Arab unions and companies, to enhance cooperation and economic integration between all Arab countries and organizations and bodies operating under the scope of the Council of Arab Economic Unity in order to achieve the common Arab market and economic growth aimed at raising the standard of living of citizens, facilitating inter-trade movement between all Arab countries, and opening new horizons towards achieving a sustainable Arab economic renaissance.
The representative of the State of Palestine to the Arab League, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, "Chairman of the meeting", said before representatives of 10 member states that our Council is meeting today in exceptional, even unprecedented circumstances that our region and the entire world are going through, as the crime of genocide committed by Israel with all its hatred, evil, brutality, racism and brutal force against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip continues for the 82nd consecutive day, with the clear support and partnership of the United States of America, pointing out that there is a massacre every hour in which Israel is killing entire Palestinian families from grandparents to grandchildren. He added that this ongoing massacre has led to the martyrdom of 21,000 people, and more than 7,000 are still missing under the rubble, which suggests that the number of martyrs has risen to 28,000, including 8,500 children, 6,500 women, 311 medical personnel, 103 journalists, and 40 civil defense personnel, all of whom were killed by the Israeli occupation, the enemy of life, humanity, values, law, and morals, the brutal, racist, and unleashed force of evil, the system of apartheid, ethnic cleansing, and genocide. The Palestinian delegate also explained that there are approximately 800,000 citizens without treatment in the northern Gaza Strip, and that the bed occupancy rate in hospitals in the southern Gaza Strip is 350%, and 900,000 children in shelters, stressing that these are not just numbers or statistics, but rather human stories and heinous crimes that will distort the world for decades to come, and that the Gaza Strip is part of the land of the State of Palestine, and its fate is decided by the Palestinian people and the PLO, the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.
